Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is a rare malignancy of the nasopharynx with distinct features; it has strong geographic and ethnic variation due to its association with Epstein-Barr virus and other risk factors. While the 5-year overall survival (OS) rate in Canada is 70% for all stages, up to 30% of patients still experience recurrence — half of these within 2 years of initial treatment.
