Cryptogenic sensory polyneuropathy (CSPN) is a common, slowly progressive neuropathy. CSPN affects adults and presents with significant neuropathic pain for which multiple medications have been tried, including antiepileptics (eg, pregabalin), antidepressants (eg, duloxetine and nortriptyline), sodium channel blockers (eg, mexiletine), topicals, and narcotics. Although results from a web-based survey among neuromuscular experts suggested pregabalin is considered more effective than other medications, no comparative studies assess the most effective medication.
