Epidemiological studies have shown inconsistent findings regarding the effect of dietary digestible carbohydrate intake on the risk of cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes (T2D). Synthesis of such evidence is important for determining the Dietary Reference Intakes (DRI) for carbohydrates, which can have consequences on incidence and morbidity of chronic conditions.
