This document encapsulates the proceedings of “How Does Mentoring Impact Diversity in the Biomedical and Behavioral Research Workforce?,” the fourth and final seminar of the 2022–2023 Scientific Workforce Diversity Seminar Series (SWDSS). The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Chief Officer for Scientific Workforce Diversity (COSWD) office hosted the seminar on June 14, 2023. Marie A. Bernard, M.D., COSWD, moderated a panel discussion on how successful mentoring relationships can positively impact the career trajectory of biomedical and behavioral researchers across the talent cycle. Panelists focused on why these relationships are particularly important for attracting and retaining diverse talent, including from underrepresented groups.
