Up to 80% of information in electronic medical records (EMRs) is in the form of clinical texts. Querying EMR texts by simply using keywords, as in a popular search engine, can be the common denominator for stakeholders in a patient-centered outcomes research (PCOR)/comparative effectiveness research (CER) project to unlock the wealth of information in clinical texts, allowing them to formulate ideas based on their own perspectives, explore their hypothesis, and shape the project.
